For this project a place to shelter people in a very sensitive situation arriving on Lampedusa from Africa, refugees needs to be created. The apaling conditions in which the refugees are accommodated do not do justice to the hospitable nature which characterizes the identity of the island of Lampedusa, The most isolated island in the Mediterranean, which consists only of rocks and a small village is poor and can’t offer the refugees what they need.

Given the objective, in this project I will create a sterile and clear area on the given location. Creating places to be alone and contemplate, adapt, but offer the opportunity to meet other cultures, tourists and inhabitants. A communal, cultural center and hospital in the area will force different actors to interact.
